Apple has unveiled its iOS 18 public beta along with other software updates, introducing a range of new features. iOS 18 brings a sleek new look to app icons and widgets, complemented by a new Dark mode. Apple announced, “New writing tools and language capabilities help you write, summarize longer text, and prioritize notifications.” Beta users can now create images and ‘Genmoji’ for conversations or revisit favorite moments with personalized memory movies. For iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users, iOS 18 introduces Apple Intelligence, utilizing personal context to deliver the most helpful and relevant insights.
Apple encourages users to join the Apple Beta Software Program, stating, āHelp make the next releases of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and HomePod software our best yet.ā By participating, users can test-drive pre-release versions and provide feedback to shape the future of Apple software.
iPhones Eligible for iOS 18 Public Beta
The iOS 18 public beta is compatible with a range of iPhone models, including the 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 series, as well as the iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and iPhone SE (second generation or later).
How to Download and Install iOS 18 Public Beta
1. Visit the Apple Beta Software Program website and enroll your Apple account if you haven’t previously installed an iOS public beta.
2. On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update.
3. Select the option for “iOS 18 public beta.”
4. Return to the Software Update screen.
5. You should now see the option to install the beta software.
The major release of iOS 18 will be available this fall as a free software update. It’s important to note that some features may not be available in certain countries, and Apple Intelligence will be available in beta this fall.
