Netflix is set to release a docu-film titled Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli on August 2, 2024. Directed by Raghav Khanna, this 74-minute featurette aims to showcase the brilliance of SS Rajamouli but has instead ignited outrage among Tollywood fans.
The controversy began when Netflix released the English trailer, prompting fans to demand a Telugu version. Upon its release, the Telugu trailer featured subpar dubbing instead of using the original voices of the Telugu-speaking celebrities. Except for James Cameron, all key personalities in the film – SS Rajamouli, Prabhas, Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Rama Rajamouli, and MM Keeravaani – are native Telugu speakers. The poor quality of the dubbing has infuriated fans, who are dismayed by hearing their favorite stars’ voices replaced by inferior dubs.
Outraged Tollywood fans have taken to social media to criticize Netflix, demanding that the poorly dubbed version be scrapped. They consider it an insult to the stars and the Telugu-speaking audience. Fans are appalled that Netflix would consider such a disrespectful move and are questioning how the celebrities agreed to this travesty.
Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli is produced by Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, and Anupama Chopra. As the backlash intensifies, Netflix’s decision remains under heavy scrutiny. Stay tuned for further updates on this escalating controversy.
